"My goodness! I am very impressed with the personal greeting as well as the superb content of your voice school. I'm already delving into the 21 day challenge and really enjoying the voice discovery process."

Patricia M.

"I like the way intelligent and interesting information is presented . I am able to understand and utilize what I’m learning in a practical application. Singing and playing . Love the singing and playing part."

Florian H.

"VoiceSchool is absolutely great! You offer so much to your students. The informative videos, the vocal check-ins, the reference links, the exercises, etc are all extremely helpful and designed to help us in so many ways. What hooked me in is your passion for the voice and music. Your approach and your ability to convey the dynamics of the voice across all aspects of singing is excellent and your team of Coaches/Teachers share that same passion."

Mark G.

"What I look most forward to each day is opening up the VoiceSchool site and completing my next lesson. I just finished Day 20 of the 21 Day Jump Start. I am gaining confidence and now identifying as a singer. I absolutely love the course and my entire experience with the VoiceSchool site."

Frank P.

"Thank you, John Henny and Tracee Theisen-Henny. Your continuous support and encouragement is what makes Voiceschool a wonderful place to be and to grow!"

Elizabeth

"Your (Voiceschool) platform over-delivers BIG TIME. But I kinda expected that given the quality of your courses & podcast."

Timothy

"I think you have a unique and important place in on-line vocal training. I feel very connected and engaged. I am grateful for the many options available to me."

Marilyn

"The 21 Jumpstart helped me start to move forward with my practicing. I am now moving towards identifying problems or weak areas and working upon them."

Mike

"Logged in last night and discovered Darlene Yam’s video series 'Fine-Tuning Tool Kit'. I just finished watching. So many valuable tips that I’ll be going back to often. Great job Darlene. Thanks!”

Kurt

"Your videos are pleasantly short and the knowledge shared is friendly and on point as always before starting one of the various exercises. So thanks for the hard work and I wish you a high reach with this project.”

Frank

"Thank you, John Henny, for noting the progress I didn't realize I'd made on my mix, on yesterday's Work Your Voice call. After the call, I revisited the Boldly Belting lyricizes, as a self check-in, and found them MUCH easier to do! This helps refine my 'stabilize my range' goal. 🙏 Onward! 💪"

Maya

“I've been a part of voice school since April and only now started scheduling vocal check-ins. And why? Because I was too scared that I wasn't properly prepared and was overthinking it. Now I am mildly annoyed that I didn't schedule anything for 6 months. The opportunity of vocal check-ins are amazing and highly appreciated. <3"

Sandy

“The coaching contains many valuable advice. Thanks John”

Eileen

“I watched all of the coaching calls and found lots of valuable information! Thank you!"

Ziva

“I have been a long-time listener of the podcast and have already learned so much from John. I am looking forward to starting the School [voiceschool.com] and continuing my journey.”

Laura

"I am also really blown away by the sheer volume and quality of those resources (in Voiceschool)- the course is incredible value for money."

Mick W.

"Before I joined Voice School, singing was absolutely terrifying. So much so that I almost considered stopping. Fast forward to a year! I never thought I could do riffs, runs, or hit high notes in mixed voice. But I can! All because of this amazing community!"

Ansley

"I decided I'd give VoiceSchool.com as a gift to myself - as reminder that I was a singer long before I became a voice teacher. I am finding it very inspiring- and this singer/voice teacher is enjoying it very much! Since I pay for it monthly, I find that I want to get as much out of it as I can- so somehow, I 'make' more time to do it! This is not a complaint- it is worth every penny! I am of the mindset, that I will happily pay for education that I find to be so valuable- and I also believe that you should be compensated for all of the hours of time that you put making your resources available.

As a side note, I feel that if you are a student who is unable to afford regular voice lessons, Voiceschool.com, is an excellent resource. I love all of the interaction that is available, as well as ALL of the education. What a supportive and safe place to come and be able to share the joy of making music!"

"Starting week three tomorrow of the 21 Day Jumpstart Course. I'm starting to not be able to recognize my voice. I don't think I would've sounded like this in November or December of last year. I could barely sing through the phrase, "Away in a Manger, no crib for a bed" back at my church's Christmas service last year without running out of air and clenching my upper body. I would never have dared sing [Love Song] back in November or December because my mix was undeveloped, and so I'd sing in this breathy, quiet voice for fear of straining, pressing, or pulling. I'm still working on this. I'm still working on getting my head voice to sound like my chest. But it's getting better every day. I've learned to enjoy the process of learning. I used to hate making mistakes... And well, to give you a rundown of my entire singing journey would take an extremely long time. I'll just say that I've not quit, but put a pause on my singing more than a few times because I thought I wasn't good enough. Thank you! THANK YOU! John Henny and Darlene Yam and everyone who has given me feedback and encouragement."

Ansley

"The 21 Day Jumpstart course helped me rediscover and more concisely comprehend exactly why and how the fundamentals of singing are so important to have in place, before embarking on more advanced singing endeavors. I was familiar with most of the exercises, but I love how concisely and pedagogically John explains what it is we are working on accomplishing with these exercises. (I used to just do these kind of exercises without understanding the purpose.) This course also really helped me work on my vowel modification and tuning more independently. I will be revisiting the course again and again."

Elizabeth

"I subscribed to the VoiceSchool a few weeks ago. I must say I have already learned a lot through the daily courses, but most importantly, being part of the community encourages me to sing (I guess most people sing quite often, but I was the singing equivalent of a couch potato!). I really like the short lessons, weekly meetings on different topics, easy accessibility to the coaches - and there are more things I am yet to explore. I generally have ideas on how to improve something but in this case, I feel like the website is perfectly designed."

Sila

"I have learned so much in the few months that I have been a Voiceschool.com member. The actual nitty gritty of how to practice, what to practice and the wonderful community is more than one could hope for. I had never heard of straw phonation or vowel exercises before and none of the local singers I know are familiar with these techniques or using any of those kinds of exercises. Joining Voiceschool.com is the best investment in my singing that I have ever made!!"

Frances

"Thanks for the Karaoke meetup, Darlene! That was great fun, hearing everyone be so spontaneous with their singing! 😊 It does help us take chances. I've learned that when I'm following a karaoke track on youtube and it's a song I haven't heard or sung in quite a while, I tend to focus too much on where the lyrics light up on the screen instead of just listening to the music and the beat. Sometimes the timing of the lyric lighting up doesn't align exactly with the music and then I get confused and mess up. I'm still a bit too much in my overthinking head that way. But this was great practice for being OKAY with messing up and dealing with it playfully 😅 I think I need to be more free with it next time, and so I hope there is a next time, because that was such a fun challenge!"

Elizabeth C.

"I had a gig last night where I was playing bass for a Canadian artist for a couple of dates on his Australian tour. The first win was when I snuck a harmony vocal on one of his newer songs onstage and surprised him. He got that blissful look on his face and I had that elated feeling of nailing it - he was so happy.

He then asked me to sing one of my own songs and at the end of the night a woman came up to me and said, 'Your voice… your voice… it’s indescribable. You don’t sound like anyone else - it’s so beautiful.'

To me it was the best compliment ever. So much better than being told that I sounded like someone famous. All I’ve ever wanted was to have my own sound that I enjoyed and that SOME others found beautiful and moving too. Next level unlocked!!"

Liz F.

"I've been a member for only about a week and between the courses and coaching call resources, a Vocal check in with Darlene, and detailed feedback from John and Darlene on a question and video I posted I am already seeing improvement in every practice session in areas I've been struggling with for years. My time is limited right now but I want to set an example for my children of always working on self improvement or your passions and finding ways to make that work in different seasons of life. This platform and its offerings has given me a way to crazy affordably do that while maximizing my time to the fullest and approach practicing with hope."

"Joining VoiceSchool has been a remarkable gift, in so many practical and profound ways.

There are holistic and comprehensive resources on how the voice works - more than enough to satisfy even the most curious mind! VoiceSchool courses meet you wherever you are on your journey, and you can return to them, time and again, en route to vocal mastery.
But the true treasure of VoiceSchool lives in its people...a beautiful community of vocal experts, voice enthusiasts, and professional singers and musicians who guide you along, lift you up, and cheer you on.

In less than 9 months, VoiceSchool has helped to turn my musical inclinations into a viable vocation. A lifelong dream to express myself through song is now not only possible, but real, and blossoming by the day. I've expanded my range, deepened my artistry, and am on track to achieve (if not surpass) the performance, production and song release goals I've set for myself this year.

If you want to use your voice in the world, VoiceSchool can help you do it, with aplomb!"

"Last year was a year of exploring doing business with my voice more intentionally. I had been only practicing for my own personal growth (tbh not THAT much) and increasing my knowledge to be able to teach voice more fluently and masterfully. But then, I got a wedding gig and my whole routine changed. I prepared for months and put in a lot of work to that ONLY ONE gig I had at the time. I was nervous I would self-sabotage during the gig but the results of the months of preparation and practice (and counseling during one-on-one check ins with Darlene Yam) really made a huge difference.

I am now more convinced that talent only gets you so far but practice and intentional work really does a whole other thing to your brain that shows itself as the main difference in doing an average presentation and a successful one. I’m now preparing for more gigs and am grateful for all the work I put in that one gig which I know was not in vain but was an investment in my career. Thanks to everybody here for inspiring me and helping me prepare and get excited for this new stage of my career I’m in.

Darlene Yam, thank you so much for your feedback and for all of your tips and support. They really helped me during my prep time, especially the relaxation tips and how to order my setlist to avoid tiredness, and how to be confident with my arrangements .

John Henny, thank you so much. Your feedback inspires me to keep on! This is definitely you guys’ win also, since all the resources here have helped me grow. Thanks again."

"I've only been involved for a few weeks, but if I were to describe it in one word, it would be "GOLDMINE". I feel like I have struck something incredibly "rich" and filled with value way beyond anything else I have seen that has already helped me so much. Not just vocal breakthrough, but knowledge breakthroughs.

I became interested in wanting to work on my voice a few years ago, and came across a wonderful teacher who was trained by Seth Riggs, (Linda Tomkinson) and has taught me so much and I've been enjoying the process of progressing little by little. But I've never learned much about the why's behind the exercises, how the voice works, vocal science, all the terminology or words like creak and cry and why she is having me do certain things.

But just by going through the 21-day jumpstart, it is all starting to come together, and pairing the knowledge with the exercises is helping everything make sense. The sections on vowels were like this big ah-ha moment and now I get why I have to do all these exercises with different vowels and what it's doing to help.

John is able to explain things so well and make even complicated concepts or ideas simple and understandable. The section on recording in garage band was also super helpful. All this paired with the vocal check-ins (I haven't done that yet) and the coaching calls is such an amazing opportunity!

Thank you for making all your professional knowledge and experience available all in one place, for a price that is realistic for the average person! I am super busy as a homeschool mom but look forward to regularly carving out time to spend on voiceschool.com."

"I've wanted to be a singer from the age of about five. It's been a life long-dream to get up in front of people and perform with ease, pleasure and to a high level: moving audiences and entertaining them with my voice. This remained a secret dream for most of my life, in part because I never felt like I had the resources to get there and I also didn't fully believe it was possible.

Joining Voice School seven months ago and working with John Henny was a game changer for me in reaching that goal and also a rocket booster that transformed my voice in ways I never thought possible.

In the span of these seven months, through diligent daily practice using John's Boldly Belting course, monthly group coaching calls, two private lessons with John, and vocal check ins with Darlene and Ellen, I went from reaching and straining in my singing to belting effortlessly up to C#5.

Thanks to the training at Voice School I've developed an understanding of how my voice works which means I am able to troubleshoot on my own when things aren't working the way that I want them to. I still reach out for coaching and have more to learn, but I feel so much more empowered and capable when it comes to approaching new material or a performance.

Recently, after performing live at an open mic someone asked me if I was a West End singer which blew my mind. Another woman came to me in tears thanking me for my performance. I almost had to pinch myself as I suddenly found myself being the performer I've always wanted to be: one who is touching audiences with her voice. I don't say these things to brag, but as a message to anyone who feels the same deep calling within themselves that I did: YOU CAN DO IT AS WELL.

John is not only an incredible teacher who provides excellent technical training, he is also an amazing mentor who is in your corner, cheering you on with enthusiasm and encouraging you to believe in yourself. Having that belief reflected back to me - in moments where I doubted myself was a huge factor in me staying motivated and moving forward. Knowing that I can always reach out on the community page with a question or ask for feedback or help means that I I am not alone, struggling in the dark. I feel like I have a team in Voice School and that carries me through and show me the next step, and then the next step‚ and each step keeps adding up.

If you have singing goals you CAN reach them. You Can. I know because I have achieved them, and I also know that there is more to come. Voice School is a place where you can find the training, the feedback, guidance and support and a beautiful community of fellow singers to help you to develop your voice the way that you want. I can't recommend it enough!"

"I appreciate that our guiding mentor really cares this much about both his craft and his students that he keeps finding more ways to add value to his product, rather than just making a static site and sitting back! This is certainly displayed by the awesome interactive features available in VoiceSchool.com otherwise, of course, but these little additions are good reminders."

"These types of challenges are great, because I probably wouldn't have sung this song otherwise, and now it's grown on me. 😃 There's such a wonderful variation of unique voices in this community. Can't wait to hear more!"

"Great tips. This is worth the price of admission alone! I also will simply hum and not even vocalize at all if I am tired. This seems to work for me."

Responding to vocal expert Ellen Crossley's comment on her submission for the "Make It Your Own" Challenge

"Finished this last week but I've been busy getting prepared to do it again for the month of November! The biggest benefits from the past 30 days are clarity of where to go from here. I've got my Now-Next-Necessary done from the Accountability training, a folder with my calendar, exercises, and notes easily accessible to make the most use of my time, and goals I feel good about that will build my confidence instead of drowning in a sea of 'I need to work on EVERYTHING!'"

Chelsea S.

After completing the "30-Day Practice Challenge"

"Thrilled about this new course in Imagery and Movement! I've been in many different & high-stress careers (and industries) over time. Needed years of bodywork to clear tension, and deeply heal from multiple burnouts. Grateful that it's now primed me to sing more effectively, just as you're sharing the latest thinking/science on the connection between body, mind, and voice! 💜✌️"

About the "Imagery & Movement" Course

"I love my voice when I mean/feel what I am singing, I listen back and can't believe it's me when there is emotion there - I have a great connection when it IS connected!!! I love that I have around a 3 Octave range but need to work on not having different voices in different registers sometimes (especially when copying someone) and finally I really like the discoveries studying it has helped me to make, such as finding this wonderful resource!"

Mike M.

Responding to John Henny's prompt "Name three things you like about your voice" in the forum

"I've begun going through the link from John up above. I'm only on page 8 at the moment, but IMHO, it's written well and is making sense. It is really great that if/when I come to something I have a question about I know I can come here and ask! That's BIG. I've always needed someone to hold my hand lightly and I got that sense yesterday in the Meet Up. Thanks so much!"
